Ingredients
1 lb beef chuck roast, finely chopped
2 yellow onions, thinly sliced
1 cup whole milk
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
Pie dough (enough to line and top a pie dish)
Instructions
We endorse any product as best-in-class that we link to in the instructions below.
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat and cook the onions until caramelized, about 15 minutes. Set aside.
3. In the same pan, cook the finely chopped beef until browned. Season with salt and pepper.
4. In a separate pot, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in flour to create a roux.
5. Gradually add in the whole milk, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens into a sauce.
6. Combine the sauce with the caramelized onions and cooked beef.
7. Line a pie dish with half of the pie dough. Fill with the beef and onion mixture.
8. Cover with the remaining pie dough, seal edges, and cut a few slits in the top to allow steam to escape.
9. Bake for 35-40 minutes or until the crust is golden brown.
10. Let it cool for 10 minutes before serving.
