4 fish fillets (using any available fresh fish)
1 cup buttermilk
1 cup flour
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/2 teaspoon oregano
vegetable oil for deep frying
lemon juice for serving
Instructions

1. Preheat oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 365°F (185°C).
2. Marinate fish fillets in buttermilk for 15 minutes.
3. In another bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and oregano.
4. Remove fish from buttermilk and dredge in the flour mixture, coating thoroughly.
5. Fry fish in batches in the hot oil until golden brown and cooked through, about 4 to 5 minutes per side.
6. Drain on paper towels, squeeze lemon juice over the fish, and serve hot.
